Caesar Salad Dressing without Egg or Anchovy

This was Caesar salad with homemade Caesar salad dressing.

I liked the recipe I adapted last time, which had lovely lemony Caesar dressing flavor without raw or boiled eggs, and thought I would make it again. Then, I realized I didn't have anchovy in hand. I didn't want to run to grocery store at that point. Let's think. What could replace the pungent, savory anchovy? I saw a jar of capers and their potential. I chopped a couple of teaspoons of capers and mixed with other ingredients of the dressing. Surprisingly, it tasted just like what one with the anchovy tastes. This might be a bright invention: savory Caesar salad without fishiness.
