Juchheim's Baumkuchen
This was Juchheim's Baumkuchen.
My parents kindly sent this special cake from Japan to celebrate our birthdays in this month. Baumkuchen is one of my favorite Japanese sweets. Baumkucken is a traditional German cake while it is very poplar in Japan and many Japanese pastry stops sell Baumkuchen. Juchheim is one of them but different from others because the company's founder, Karl Juchheim was the first German confectioner ever to bake this Baumkuchen in Japan. It was in 1919, almost a century year ago!
Made with fresh simple ingredients: egg, butter, sugar and wheat flour, Juchheim's King of German Cake is always delicate, moist, and tasty. It's so sweet of my parents to send the cake for us!
