Edinburgh Larder in Edinburgh
On our fourth day in Edinburgh, we had a breakfast at Edinburgh Larder. When I researched "the best scone in Edinburgh," several sources mentioned the cafe in the Old Town. Glad that I had an opportunity to try their famous scone! I couldn't say the scone was the best but pretty good. It was light and delightful. With the clotted cream and homemade strawberry jam, I finished my scone within 3 minutes.
J had Veggie Breakfast with roasted flat mushroom, blistered cherry tomatoes, wilted spinach, potato scone, veggie haggis, homemade beans and poached egg. Healthy and savory. Good choice!
After the nice breakfast, we walked down on the Royal Mile and visited the Palace of Holyroodhouse. We had a self guided audio tour. It was interesting to see and learn about decorations (tapestries, paintings, furniture, etc) and roles of each room. Taking a photo in the palace wasn't allowed, by the way.
At the end of the tour, we were led to Holyrood Abbey and gardens, where I started taking photos again!
The palace was perfectly positioned to see the natural landscape of Holyrood Park and Arthur's Seat. The dramatic view must have entertained kings and queens for hundreds of years. To be continued...
