Forage & Chatter in Edinburgh
Lunch at Forge & Chatter was wonderful. Hidden in the West End area, the restaurant offers a menu making use of Scotland's natural bounty, much of which is foraged. Although we had to wait a couple of hours to get a table, it was worth it.
Their bread was fried dough balls with yoghurt butter and mushroom powder, and dill and parsley pesto. Different and tasty. Two balls were served, by the way. J had taken one before I took picture.
For a starter, I had Artichoke and Fennel Salad with house-made ricotta and herb oil. Refreshing.
J's starter was Confit Duck Rillettes with walnut, fig and brioche. I believe he liked it very much.
We both had fish for a main. Unfortunately I don't remember what kinds of fish they were. What I remember is my dish was incredibly delicious and J said his dish was one of the best fish dishes he ever had.
We didn't forget to add greens for our meals. Ginger and garlic broccoli was as simple as what they looked.
We didn't miss dessert this time. We had Poached Pears and Manjari Chocolate Crémeux to share. Bravo!
We were a part of the last group for the lunch time. The dining area was almost empty and very quite, which we appreciated.
After the late but special lunch, we walked around the West End area and ended up reaching Haymarket station.
Kept walking without a map, we somehow came back to the Old Town.
It was another day to walk, eat and walk. To be continued...
