Barcelona, Spain 1 - Cervecería Catalana
Our birthdays and Valentine's day celebration was held in Barcelona, Spain this year! Not-so-surprisingly, tasting traditional tapas in Spain was one of things on our to-do list for this trip. On our first day, we went to Cervecería Catalana. The restaurant, located in Eixample area was very busy. Waiting time was about 40 minutes. We killed time by walking around the area, and eventually we were seated in the dining area.
J started with a local beer while I had freshly squeezed orange juice. The menu offered various kinds of dishes. I think we ordered different flavors very well.
Grilled octopus on a kind of smooth (bean?) paste. Amazing!
Mushrooms, shrimps, scallops and beans quickly sautéed with olive oil and garlic. J thought it was a bit too simple while I thought it was great.
Beef steak. Medium-rare, seasoned with a pinch of salt. That was all but pretty tasty!
Fried little fish. J also enjoyed fried little green peppers that came with the fish. Yum.
Duck and mushrooms canelones covered with rich bechamel sauce with a hint of nutmeg. Excellent!
