Futomaki & Inari Penguin

Since our New Year's Day wasn't in Japanese style, I made it up with making Futomaki and Inari sushi some later. O-Sho-Gatsu, the traditional Japanese New Year season starts on January 1st and runs through January 7th in the East Japan or January 15th in the West Japan. I am from the West Japan. I was so happy to have this sushi party before the Japanese New Year season ends. Meanwhile, J had to put up with my rather unfounded obsession with doing (eating, practically) something Japanese during the O-Sho-Gatsu. He deserved a little special - Penguin Inari.

I served the homemade sushi with instant miso soup that I brought back from Japan last year. I knew it was a popular product but had no idea how good it would be. The soup was actually tasty for an instant meal, better than I expected. Moreover I was surprised that J liked it.

My internal 2026 clock has officially started ticking!
