New Year Day 2026

A Happy New Year! The first dinner of 2026 was English-style tea party, featuring four kinds of sandwiches (coronation chicken, smoked salmon, egg salad, and fresh veggie&cheese) and three kinds of petit fours from Gmeiner, one of our favorite pastry shop in Wiesbaden. It was lovely but someday I would like to spend the New Year's Day in Japan again to have Japanese traditional New Year's Day food, such as Ozouni and Osechi...

We found light snow in the morning of the 2nd of January. Beautiful! It's pretty cold but New Year's is traditionally called Shin-Shun (New Spring) in Japan. The custom, which is a remnant of the time when the lunar calendar was used, makes me feel like spring has already arrived.
