Lincoln, Lincolnshire 3 - Thailand No.1

The weather on our second day in Lincoln was gorgeous. We visited Lincoln Castle, the late 11th century Norman castle constructed by William the Conqueror on the site of a pre-existing Roman fortress. Today there isn't a building like a "castle" but the castle wall that we enjoyed to walk on. The top of the tower at the corner of the wall was a great spot to overlook the entire town and the magnificent cathedral, especially on such a beautiful day.

So, what is inside of the wall? There was a building that was not a part of castle but Georgian and Victorian Prison that was built in 1788 and was used as a debtor's prison until 1878. The prison is now fully open to visitors. Downton Abbey fans could recognize that the prison was featured in the TV show.

It's a lunch time! We tried Thailand No1, a Thai restaurant on Bailgate street. It seemed very popular. When we arrived at the restaurant, almost all tables were taken.

J started with Tiger beer and Tom Yam with mushrooms. The soup didn't have any flavor according to J. On the other hand, My appetizer, Satay Gai - skewers of marinated chicken breast barbecued served with peanut sauce wasn't bad. Chicken was very tender and tasted good.

My main dish was Pad Thai. That was ok. I should have chosen just veggies without meat. It came with too much chicken! J had Pad Kemao - spicy fried noodles with pork, egg and fresh Thai herbs. He thought it was good.
