First Tomato Zucchini Rice Gratin in 2017

This was our first tomato zucchini rice gratin in 2017!

These beautiful zucchini and yellow squash came from our local farm stand. Summer is the best season to make our favorite tomato zucchini rice gratin!
We have been enjoying this dish since 2012. Each time slightly different - more or less tomato or zucchini, different kinds of cheese, with or without egg, etc. This could be the most squash; less tomato version.
The rice mixture didn't have egg but, small onion, a couple of garlic cloves, a lot of fresh thymes, a hint of yellow mustard powder, Worcestershire sauce, and parmesan cheese. Generous Parmesan cheese on the top, too.
It tasted like sunny summer!
