Lebkuchen from Leckerlee

These were Lebkuchen from Leckerlee.

I hadn't known Lebkuchen, German gingerbread cookie originally from Nuremberg, a city in the German state of Bavaria until I read an article on Saveur #161 issue. Since then, I couldn't wait to try it. Not any Lebkuchen but Lebkuchen from Leckerlee, a bakery in NY that was specifically featured in the article. 

I bought five piece of Lebkuchen from Leckerlee for a part of Christmas gifts for J. It was a hit! We both loved the cakey soft texture and the complex flavors that exactly the article was talking about. The cookie will probably become a part of our Christmas gifts from now on!
