These were Japanese black beans (
Kuromame) and sesame muffins.
I am a believer of love at first sight. When I saw a picture of
Kuromame and sesame muffins in a Japanese baking book that I bought while I was in Japan last year, my heart leaped up. I knew I would make them and love them. It took a little bit longer to materialize my love, but here they were!
Japanese black beans are much bigger than black beans that are often seen in Mexican food here. I brought a pack of dried Japanese black beans from Japan with the book in order to make those muffins exactly.
No matter how J reacted to the muffins, especially to "the black things" that he called about
Kuromame, I confirmed these muffins were my love.
