Clarity

We tried Clarity, a New American restaurant in VA with J's parents to celebrate birthdays of four of us all together. The restaurant changes their dinner menu daily. We arrived there a little before 5pm. At that time, their menu haven't been finalized yet. While we were seated and checking the drink menu, our waitress brought freshly printed menu to our table. J and I shared two first course dishes. One was seared rare yellowfin tuna with golden raisin chutney, roasted red pepper relish and tomato pickle. It was light and nice as a starter.
The other first course dish we shared was burrata and compressed Belgian endive salad with red cabbage kimchi, baby kale, acorn squash and reduced balsamic. It was refreshing. My main dish was pan-seared Branzino and gulf coast shrimp with burdockroot barigoule, picked jalapeno, capers, green olive, lentils du puy and veracuruz sauce. I liked the crispy Branzino very much although other parts of the dish were pretty spicy for me. I saw the term "jalapeno" in the menu, and J kindly asked our waitress for me if the dish would be spicy. She said, Not at all. I should not trust her.
J enjoyed his main "E&E Rabbit Trio" - loin, chicken fried leg, and shoulder ragout with roasted and pureed cauliflower, peal onions, fingerling sweet potatoes, seared liver, and rabbit jus.
J's mother had pan-roasted sixty south salmon with melted savory cabbage, sweet and sour eggplant, pork belly and shrimp bisque. It looked nice but apparently was too salty for her unfortunately.
I believe J's father had guinea hen breast as his main dish. I didn't hear any comments, but hope that he enjoyed his bird. Overall, it was a pleasant dinner. J's father generously treated us! Thank you so much!! It was also a nice opportunity to check out a new dining spot around the area that has been very competitive.
