Good-Bye & Hallo 2 - Cambridge, England

We left Harrogate and drove to our new town to live. We took advantage of the moving trip to see more places that we haven't yet. The first place was Cambridge. We had a lovely breakfast at Michaelhouse Cafe. It was located inside St. Michaels Church, an ancient church building with its roots in the 11th century. It was like an university cafeteria. In fact it seemed some faculties and students were regulars.

I had a porridge bowl. It was pretty good! There were many baked goods on the counter and I had to try their fruit scone, too. At that point I was so full and felt I wouldn't need anything to eat on the day.

J had scrambled eggs and toasts with smoked salmon. I think he enjoyed it!

After the big breakfast, we visited King's College and King's Collage Chapel.

The 16 century fan vaulting and stained glass windows were spectacular!

What I wanted to try in Cambridge was a Chelsea bun! Luckily we walked in front of Fitzbillies, a bakery cafe that has been baking Chelsea buns since 1920 and makes over 200,000 every year by hand! We got one to taste. Very sticky and sweet!

We wandered in the city.

We took a break at Crosstown, a London-based doughnut shop. Not fancy toppings/flavors but also dough is their signature - the world's first yeast-raised sourdough base, "hybrid sourdough." The doughnut we shared was purely tasty.

We walked more. Perhaps I personally would prefer the atmosphere of their rival Oxford but Cambridge had its own charm.

Our early dinner was Japanese udon noodles at Kineya Mugimaru! I was surprised at finding an Osaka-based Udon shop in Cambridge. I didn't expect that our last meal in England became Udon. I didn't complain it!

Indeed, it was the last night in England.
