Treats from the Snow Road Trip to Czech & Saxony, Germany
Here are examples of wonderful treats we brought back home from the snow road trip to Czech and Saxony, Germany. The Silesian poppy seed stollen and Liegnitz bomb, handmade by Caféhaus Lucullus in Görlitz, were very tasty without being too sweet. Ah, I miss the lovely coffee shop!
The baumkuchen, assorted lebkuchen and Christmas cookies by Konditorei und Café Graupner were also delightful. Especially those decorated cookies looked very cheerful.
These various chocolates were J's special premier selection at the chocolate shop Camondas in Dresden. Every piece was excellent and I loved all while the liquor-flavored cream pralines of Mandrile Melis could be my favorite.
Emil Reimann's premium classic Dresden Stollen “Edition Frauenkirche expanded my "stollen" horizon. The texture was kinda chewy, which was different from that of the stollens I had before. It was like bread more than cake. It was buttery but somehow not so heavy. The population rate of raisins was pretty high. Overall it was very pleasant. I would like to try a different Dresdner Stollen next holiday season.
We also had a little box of round, thin, crispy wafers with vanilla cream filling from Grandhotel Pupp. We received it in Czech at check-out. The wafers tasted lovely. They are traditional confectioner of the spa town, called the Karlovy Vary wafers, or "Karlovarské oplatky" in Czech. Traveling is learning. Well, learning new sweets in my case.
