Treats from Kraków

What we did once we arrived home from Kraków was baked goods tasting! The pastry that looked like apple pie square was actually filled with the mix of peach and apple. It was pretty nice. The filling of the jammy roll was traditional Polish rose petal jam. Very tasty! The Challah was also fluffy and wonderful. On the other hand, the Babka was more like marble cake that is common in Germany. It was kinda oily and less chocolaty. The "Buttery Pretzel" was very airy and lovely. We also tasted the Kamchatka berry jam. It was fresh, sweet and sour. I liked it very much. It makes amazing sandwiches with almond butter. The buckwheat honey was interesting. It has an intense and unique flavor. And, the rock salt from the Wieliczka Salt Mine tasted like simply salt. The coarse but gently rounded salt crystals are perfect for sprinkling some on boiled egg or cooked veggies.

We made lovely fish sandwiches with the traditional smoked cheese, Gołka. It tasted mild and had a springy texture. Talking about the four kinds of Kielbasa, I know one was made with chicken but don't know about the other three... The marketplaces were the only places that we wished we could speak Polish during the trip. I cut in large pieces and then cut each in half lengthwise and pan-fried them.

The sausages were tasty and surprisingly lean, not greasy at all. J opened one of his Polish beer for the special Kielbasa party!
