Woodberry Kitchen
This was our first visit to Woodberry Kitchen in Baltimore.
The restaurant is in a historical red brick building that had been used for foundry in 1851.
They had a neat open kitchen. The central brick oven was an eye-catcher.
We started with sourdough bread. Chewy!
Appetizer #1 - Deviled eggs with chipped ham, espelette pepper and chives. Smooth and tasty with a sort of mustardy kick.
They offer a large selection of drinks. No wonder the bar area was so crowded. We saw many people ordering a drink in copper mug cup. J tried one. It was "Gov't Mule" - the restaurant's organic vodka, ginger-lime syrup, housemade ginger beer, lime zest. It was very refreshing. A lot of crashed ice, but it was not thin at all. I could taste strong alcohol!
We were so full at this point. But I couldn't go back home without dessert. J ordered french press coffee with Kenyan coffee beans. It was alright. I tried tea that I had never heard. It was earthy like Rooibos.
Here was our dessert! Coffee Toffee Nut - Coffee ice cream, toffee sauce, candied pecans, Mast Brothers chocolate, whipped cream. The restaurant had many various ice cream choices.
The service was excellent. The atmosphere was casual and lively. And food was wonderful. The location was a bit odd, but now we know how to get there. We will definitely come back there again. It may be fun to try their weekend branch next time.

Appetizer #2 - "Casino," Wood-roasted Chesapeake oysters with garlic, shallot, butter, tomato, 'Allegheny.' They were lovely and garlicky!
We ordered and shared two different supper dishes.
Supper #1 - Cape May, NJ Mahi Mahi with roasted la ratte potatoes, farmhouse sausage, scallions, carmen & poblano pepper relish. Medium-rare fish was perfect!
Supper #2 - 30 Day Dry-Aged Strip Steak with potato & cheddar gratin, steak sauce. The crust of the steak was wonderful! That was something I can't create at home.
