Carrot Soup

This was carrot soup.

It was my made-up coup with carrots, onion, ginger, vegetarian soup stock and some spices and herbs. Carrots were naturally sweet. So I added some sumac - one of staple spices in Middle East. I like its beautiful purple color and fruity and somewhat sour note. Sumac exactly reminds me of Japanese dried purple Shiso leaves that is often mixed in steamed white rice. My carrot soup was very tasty. Surprisingly J said he liked the soup at least twice. Yay!
