Cafe No 8 Bistro in York, featuring Clifford's Tower

We went back to York in January and tried Cafe No 8 Bistro for lunch. It was a small and busy place. Actually it seemed that the place had another dining room behind the kitchen and even a garden for outdoor seating. Anyway, we managed to secure a table near the front door. I didn't see any sweet meal options, such as pancakes, on their breakfast/lunch menu, so I had to choose a savory one: Kedgeree No.8. Their smoked haddock was in a salmon color. Did they mix haddock and trout perhaps? Whole seeds of some kinds of spices gave the dish a crunchy texture. It was less creamy than one by Bettys but creamer than my homemade one. Overall, it was pretty good.
J's dish was lamb and mint burger in sourdough bun with tzatziki and Greek side salad. Plus, chunky chips. It looked nice and I think he was satisfied with it. Our experience at the bistro was fine. I don't mind coming back there again if we are near by.
After the lunch, we walked to Clifford's Tower, "the largest remaining part of York Castle, once the centre of government for the north of England." The tower neatly sat on a little hill alone.

There was not much to see inside of the tower, but the ruin had lots of memories since the 11th century when William the Conqueror, the first Norman King of England marched north and built one of castles where the tower stands now.

Steep narrow stone steps led us on the top.
York Minster was over there! Cafe No. 8 Bistro should be a little left side behind the Minster It looked very far away!
