Beykoz Kebabi @ Konak Meze
Beykoz Kebabi was J's dish when we revisited our favorite Turkish restaurant, Konak Meze recently. It was marinated cubes of tender lamb, tomato and peppers served in aubergine topped with béchamel sauce, baked in the oven. I was surprised that he still had a taste for lamb even after our giant Easter lamb shawarma. He seemed to enjoyed his dish while he was very curious about a dish that our friend's daughter had. I think her dish was Kiremit Kofte - homemade meatballs baked in the oven with rich tomato sauce, herbs topped with melted cheese. To avoid gluten, she replaced rice with potato for side, which looked nice too. J has already had an idea about what he would order next time.
My dish was Chargrilled marinated fillets of sea bass finished with olive oil and lemon. It was as good as one I had before. Appetizers were Yaprak Sarma (stuffed vine leaves with rice, raisins, and herbs) and Patates Kofte (deep fried potato patties with cheese finely chopped parsley
and herbs).
We haven't had Patates Kofte before and it was pretty good. Unfortunately the photo of the appetizer was out of focus... It was another wonderful dinner at Konak Meze. We'll come back there soon!
