Farm Bistro

We had our first lunch at Farm Bistro, a casual farm-themed cafe/restaurant in the downtown Harrogate. J had Bistro burger, I think. The burger was placed on a slice of sourdough bread, topped with sweet caramelized onion and feta cheese, cherry tomatoes and fresh basil, and served with chips and coleslaw. It looked interesting although the taste wasn't impressive. According to J, too many different flavors were combined and crashing each other. Oh-oh.

My dish was Homemade Fish Goujon’s. "Made from fresh cod, breaded with a mixture of sour dough & panko breadcrumbs mixed with fresh herbs, avocado & dill spread with lettuce & homemade tar tar sauce. Served with homemade chips." It was ok. Fish and chips kinda thing as the dish was seen. The sourdough bread under the fish and salad was tough and hard to cut with a standard knife, though. It may be visually nice but is not really practical. In fact I remember that I have had a dish with a slice of bread that was difficult to work with like this. Is that kind of serving style a trend?

The bistro was on the second floor. The entrance on the first floor was small and narrow, but the bistro's dining room was surprisingly spacious with a high ceiling and large windows. Looking down to Oxford Street on where I often walk was new and fun. Apparently the bistro was popular. During our visit for the lunch, all the tables were taken. They have received good reviews on tripadviser. However, the place wasn't for us somehow.
