Savory Pies & Cheese from Malton Monthly Food Market
As I briefly mentioned before, it was a Malton Monthly Food Market day when we were in Malton for the first time. The market wasn't huge but offered things that attracted J: savory pies and cheese. He bought some pies/quiches from Kevin's Pies from Sheffield, South Yorkshire, and some cheese from Ryan Jepson Cheeses from Halifax, West Yorkshire. He also bought a jar of pickle and some bottles of local-crafted beer that we saw at a market in Harewood recently.
J's cheese choice was pretty good. I liked all. One of them, Gouda with cumin was interesting. It was like a curry-flavored cheese. We usually don't buy spiced cheese. It was new for us.
Two kinds of quiches: one with goat cheese and the other with mushrooms were ok although I prefer one by Bettys. Steak & Red Wine pie was good, but Hunters pie (pork, chicken and stuffing) must have been J's favorite. Overall, it seemed that he was happy with the pie/quiches' quality.
I believe we will come back to Malton, Yorkshire's Food Capital sometime in the future.
