Andalusia, Spain - Seville 5

This was the day to leave Seville. The departure of our flight was in the early afternoon. We had enough time to enjoy a morning walk. First we went to El Comercio for breakfast again. This was our third visit!

It was before 8am and before the waves of customers arrive and cover the tables. Excellent!

Just like the day before, we both had a set 'B.' Simple but delicious! I could repeat it again and again. I also believe it would be healthier than thick churros absorbing incredibly a lot of oil like a sponge, with a cup of rich chocolate

I hope the bar keeps serving the set 'B' until we come back sometime.

The sky was clear. We were fortunate to have a beautiful weather every day during the trip!

We stopped by at Iglesia de la Magdalena, or Royal Parish Church of Santa María Magdalena. It was another church that was built on top of an old mosque after the Christian Conquest of Seville in 1248. The original church was rebuilt in Gothic-Mudejar style as a result of the earthquake in 1355. In the late 17th century its roof was collapsed (I don't know the reason), and the church was rebuilt in Baroque between the end of 17th and the early 18th centuries, which we can see today.

I couldn't tell from the outside how big the church would be. It was pretty spacious. The main altarpiece is supposed to be the second largest in the city, after that of the Seville Cathedral although I don't remember it looked that large.

There were a lot of paintings including large frescos. Some were under restoration works and some were probably waiting for their turn to get an attention.

We stepped out from the church, where the morning sunshine didn't penetrate well. While we were slowly heading back to the hotel, we tried to find a street that we haven't been yet. However, we almost always found ourselves at where we remembered. I wouldn't say Seville was small but we have wandered a lot by then.

I thought we haven't seen Ayuntamiento de Sevilla, the city hall of Seville yet. We walked there according  to the Google map and came to the Plaza Nueva with the statue of King Saint Ferdinand. We were the square on the day before. We simply didn't know known the large building at the square was Ayuntamiento de Sevilla.

Seville was one of the most attractive and definitely cleanest cities that we have ever been to.

Good morning, La Giralda!

Good morning, horses!

We bought a couple of empanadas and a pastry at Jester. Those were our lunch at the airport. We visited Jester three time. They were a kind of bakery/cafe that I would like to have in my neighborhood.

We found a bench in the Jardines de Murillo and relaxed for a while.

Until the lawn sprinkler threatened us...

The last chance to enjoy the gardens and the sun.

It was also time to say Good-bye to oranges! I miss them!

We had a great time in Seville and Granada. The picturesque old towns, beautiful architecture and delicious foods. Plus, warm sunny weather in February! It was a perfect escape from the German winter.
