Mom's Houtou - Japan 2017
This was my mother's Houtou.
According to my father's request, one of meals during my stay in Japan was Houtou. He, who is from Yamanashi prefecture, has grown up with this hot pot with Miso-based soup, thick flat noodles, chicken and vegetables, which is famous in the region. Any vegetables can be in the pot, but Kabocha (Japanese pumpkin) is a must! The dish was excellent. The noodles in the pot that my mother bought was specially made for Houtou in Yamanashi prefecture. So, this was quite authentic. In fact, my father said it was delicious Houtou and ate more than usual.
