Cherry Chocolate "Black Forest" Ice Cream

This was homemade Cherry Chocolate Ice Cream.

It's Cherry season. I try to have fresh cherry as many as possible during that time. We just bought a bag of our first fresh cherry this year. To celebrate those cherries, it was J's idea to make cherry ice cream. How could I say no?
J wanted ice cream like black forest cake - cherry and chocolate. Adapting two different chocolate ice cream recipes, this and that, by Jenni Britton Bauer, who runs "Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams" in Columbus, OH, I made this ice cream with J's 70% dark chocolate, cocoa, kirsch and a lot of fresh cherries. Jenni's magical ice cream base recipe guarantees rich and creamy results without egg custard. This ice cream wasn't an exception. It was a cool way to enjoy fresh cherry.
