Pennette Rigate with homemade Zucchini Amatriciana Sauce

This is another story of online grocery substitution. My original order for Fettuccine brought Pennette Rigate. It's a miniature of Penne Rigate. I haven't seen it before! The thin tubular pasta was completely different type from Fettuccine while pasta is pasta. Actually Pennette Rigate was a good friend of my homemade Zucchini Amatriciana sauce. Maybe better than Fettuccine in this case. The short pasta provided a nice bite and held sauce neatly.

It's always fun to try a new pasta shape. Some say it is estimated that there are approximately 350 different types of pasta; other say there are over 600 pasta shapes, each with a delicious purpose. I don't know what number is true, but certainly so many pasta shapes that we haven't tried yet are around. On this day, we have successfully proceeded one step forward with Pennette Rigate.
