West Highlands & Hebrides, Scotland Day 10 - Pooley Bridge

Day 10 was the day we drove back home. We left Balloch early morning and successfully avoided commuter traffics around Glasgow. We planned to stop in Penrith to have a breakfast and maybe to walk in the town center a little since we haven't been to there before although we has driven near the town center during our Lake District trip. We found a very well-rated, popular breakfast place, called Granny Downbekin's on tripadviser in advance and headed there. When we arrived there, we realized that the cafe wasn't in the town of Penrith but in a little village called Pooley Bridge, about 6 miles away from the town of Penrith! Actually that was a very good surprise. The village had the popular cafe as well as a nice grocery store that we enjoyed some shopping while we were waiting for the cafe's opening.

Granny Downbekin's had a large terrace dining area. We were seated right next to the water. It was lovely to have a breakfast with views of swimming duckies. J had full breakfast and I did vegetarian version. It was pretty good. The baked beans had a nice texture. Perhaps they weren't from a can but were made by scratch. Two thick sliced sourdough toasts came together. I liked the bread. Many items on their menu seemed to be served with sourdough bread. Maybe the bread was their signature bread.

After the breakfast, we hit a road again without exploring Pooley Bridge. We arrived home in about two hours. The Scotland road trip was absolutely fantastic! Thank you so much J for driving all the way and sharing the marvelous adventure with me!
