Takeaway Autumn Afternoon Tea from Bettys
It was about a month ago that we had a lovely Bettys afternoon tea at home. It was an autumn version. While the scones and sandwiches are the same year around, the cakes changes seasonally. This time lemon tart, Engadine slice (a Swiss speciality made with layers of rich hazelnut and almond meringue and buttercream, topped with crunchy almond Florentine), and chocolate cube were served. Actually chocolate cube seems like being a regular and one of three through a year. I am a big fan of Engadine cake. Bettys used to sell a little round version called "Engadine Japonaise" at the shop, but I haven't seen it for a while. It was very nice to see a slice version in the afternoon tea set. The cake tends to be pretty sweet. The little slice was a perfect portion. I believe Bettys has changed their afternoon tea menu to their festive version recently. I'm sure that we will have one (or two) during this holiday season.
