Halva with Chios Mastiha Flavour

This was Halva with Chios Mastiha Flavour from Zingerman's.

Halva is one of the newest discoveries in my life. According to Zingerman's, "Made throughout the Mediterranean and pretty much everywhere in the Middle East, halva is made from tahini (sesame paste) and honey (or sugar)."
This one was supposed to pretty much just that, pure and simple, but accented with mastiha - the resin excreted from the mastiha tree that is special to the island of Chios, Greece. I could find tiny pieces of mastiha crystal in the halva. Halva is fragile and melt-in-mouth. And it's sweet, very sweet, too sweet for J. I still don't know much about Halva, but I believe in Zingerman's choice; this must be a good and real one. My impression of Halva was "it's sesame cotton candy!"
