Korokke (Japanese Croquette)

These were Japanese croquette, Korokke.

Korokke is one of dishes that I often asked my mother to make. It is said that the origin of Korokke, introduced in the early 1900s, is Portuguese croquette. Korokke is deep-fried balls made with mashed potato and sauteed onion & ground beef seasoned simply with salt and black pepper. Well, at last that's my family style. My own version is not deep-fried but oven-toasted, but I adapted my mother's simple seasoning. While they are hot, some sprinkles of Worcester sauce on top and eat! I am glad J liked these potato balls.
