The Source by Wolfgang Puck
We had a wonderful dim sum brunch at The Source by Wolfgang Puck, in Washington, DC.
It was our first visit. Since it's hard to find a great dim-sum place around DC area, we were excited to try this restaurant that has been receiving many good reviews! The dim sum tasting menu had two options - 5 tastes and 8 tastes. J and I both chose 8 tastes and picked total 16 different dishes to share so that we both could try as many as dishes. Before the dim sum march was coming, we sipped a drink - Sichuan Mary for J and hot Jasmine tea for me.
#1 - Pork Belly Potstickers with Black Vinegar, Chili Oil
#2 - Crystal Chive Dumplings with Red Wattle Pork, Maryland Crab
#3 - Wok Fired Shrimp Dumplings with XO Sauce, Blackened Chili
#4 - Sichuan “Dan Dan” Dumplings with Organic Chicken, Peanut Sauce
#5 - Lobster & Shrimp Spring Roll with Honey-Ten Spice Dipping Sauce
#6 - Sichuan “Dan Dan” Noodles
#7 - Shrimp & Sea Scallop Siu Mai with sweet chili sauce
#8 - Pork Bao Buns with Cucumber
#9 - Black Bean Basil Duck
#10 - Mushroom Dumplings with Ginger Mushroom Sauce
#11 - Short Rib & Brisket Dumpling with Hot and Numbing Spices
#12 - Tea Smoked Salmon Benedict with Togarashi Hollandaise
#13 - General Tso’s Wings with Roasted Bird Chilies
#14 - Wok Fired XO Noodles with Roasted Pork, Tiger Shrimp
#15 - Brussels Sprouts "Okonomiyaki"
#16 - Turnip Cakes with Sichuan Sweet Soy
Wow, 16 dishes were a lot for two! Seriously. After then, there were complimentary desserts: Baked Hot Chocolate with strawberries and whipped cream, and
Red Miso Glazed Doughnut with 50-bean vanilla ice cream.
It was a lot of fun with a lot of small dishes! Everything was pretty good, well-prepared with good ingredients and neatly presented. We were glad we tried the restaurant. The best dim sum in DC as of now!
