Food Celebration Day

Suddenly J declared, "It's a Food Celebration Day!" I had no idea from where it came on his mind. It sounded amusing anyway. I followed it without a question. Actually the smoked salmon on bagels was a part of the special occasion.

In the afternoon, we had a cozy tea time with cranberry and apple almond tart and raspberry chocolate tart.

The dinner was "surf and turf." For surf, J picked up beautiful shrimps. I poached them in homemade herb & spice broth made with black pepper corns, paprika, coriander seeds, hot red chiles, parsley, thyme, tarragon, oregano, celery, bay leaves, onion powder, garlic powder, white whine, and lemon zest. Our dipping sauce was simple citrus flavored soy sauce. The shrimps were very sweet and flavorful!

Turf was a generous portion of rib eye steak! Braised kale was a side dish. J handled steaks perfectly as usual, with right seasonings with pepper, salt and garlic powder and right grilling. We enjoyed each bite with the American signature, A1 sauce.

The food celebration day couldn't be better.
