Holiday Season Trip 2 - Stratford Upon Avon

Our next stop after Baddesley Clinton was Stratford Upon Avon. It's a medieval market town and the most famous as the birthplace and home town of William Shakespeare!

The photo above is his birthplace and the garden right to the house below is where his final place of residence used to exist.

Holy Trinity Church is where he was baptized, worshipped and is buried. There are also his school room, his daughter's house, his granddaughter's house and etc in the town. Just outside of the town, there is his wife Anne's house, too. The town is all about the world's greatest playwrite.

Those places are open for public but unfortunately most of them were closed on the day. We just wondered in the town, finding things associated with Shakespeare as well as admiring handsome old timber-framed Tudor houses that took us back to the 16th century, the time he lived there.

We tried Lambs, a restaurant in one of oldest Tudor building in the town for lunch. We grabbed a table at their courtyard. It was a little chilly day but the table was cozy with a heater and a good social distance.

We both had broccoli and stilton soup as a starter. I thought it was ok while J didn't like it.

Again we both had Goulash as a main. It was also ok, I thought.

The restaurant was on Sheep Street. I wondered how the street got the name...

The town lies on River Avon clearly. The Royal Shakespeare Theatre was standing on the waterside. I could imagine the town would be very busy with a lot of visitors who enjoy cruises and/or the Royal Shakespeare Company's outdoor plays during summer.

To be continued...
