Helo Wales! 11: Portmeirion - The Restaurant

During our stay in Portmeirion, we had a fine dinner in the restaurant at Hotel Portmeirion. The hotel sits on the shore of Afon Dwyryd estuary, overlooking the sandy beach that dramatically emerges at low tides.

Around 11am, the estuary was full of water.

Around 1:30pm, we were relaxing at the terrace in front of the hotel and watching the water moving fast and disappearing.

Around 3pm, a vast sand beach showed up. Fascinating!

Our dinner was on 6:30pm that was the earliest seating time. The lobby was chic with warm and dark mahogany-color-wooden decors while the dining room's theme looked nautical - the white and blue toned room was lightened up with the evening's gentle sunshine through a good many windows on the arch walls.

Two kinds of bread and two kinds of butter were served. They were good.

We both had Miso glazed salmon, roasted octopus, yuzu and pink ginger dashi. The very delicate dish surprised me because the flavor was totally Japanese! I enjoyed it very much. The portion was super tiny even though it was a starter.

For second dish, we both chose the same dish again - Welsh Lamb presented in a Mediterranean style. The dish was lovely. Lamb was very tender and tasty!

We shared two kinds of desserts: pistachio soufflé with Turkish delight ice cream and caramel tart. Both were wonderful!

After the dinner, we took a walk in the village in the sunset for a while. Beautiful.
