Black Sesame Marble Cake

This was Black Sesame Marble Cake.

One of the Christmas gifts from my mother was a jar of 100% Japanese black sesame paste. When I was pondering what kinds of sweets I could create with the silky rich paste, chocolate marble pound cake was in my mind. How about making the chocolate marble layer with black sesame?

To enhance and enjoy the pure sesame flavor, the cake should be not-too-heavy buttery but light and moist to enjoy without any topping cream or frost. I tried to use less butter by adding vegetable oil to lighten the cake. Also sour cream made the cake lovely moist. I couldn't make a beautiful marble pattern, but the taste was fantastic just as I imagined.
