Basil Pesto Pizza with Fresh Mushrooms, Tomatoes, Prosciutto & Mozzarella
This was homemade basil pesto pizza with fresh mushrooms, tomatoes, prosciutto and Mozzarella cheese.
Yes, it was a home pizza day! We were talking about what to do with our growing basil leaves other than making usual pasta with pesto. Pizza Margherita was a candidate. But, could it really use many basil leaves? We had MANY. There was a new idea - why don't we make a pizza with pesto sauce instead of tomato sauce? Then, we could use a lot of basil leaves! It would be interesting because we hadn't made such a pizza before!
Toppings were J's choice. Hello, mushrooms!
Hi, tomatoes!
Chao, prosciutto!
And now, last but not least, Mozzarella!
After being baked for 10 minutes at 475 F, our first "green" pizza was ready to eat.
How impressive! Pesto, toppings and crust all together created an amazing tasty pizza that we enjoyed so much! We didn't miss tomato sauce there.
