Linguine with Sardines, Breadcrumbs & Capers

This was linguine with sardines, breadcrumbs and capers.

It was our first pasta with sardines and will be the last pasta with breadcrumbs. I was looking for a new pasta recipe that called for sardines so that we could open and try a tin of Portuguese sardines from Zingerman's. There were some. I adapted a recipe from New York Times, which looked simple and has received several good reviews. The recipe is perhaps inspired with South Italian cuisine where breadcrumbs with pasta is a tradition. I also added some J's spicy dried red pepper, white wine and lemon juice. It was just fine for me; J didn't like breadcrumbs in the pasta dish. He thought toasted breadcrumbs disturbing the smooth pasta texture. An exception was mac & cheese according to him. Don't worry J, no more breadcrumbs on pasta for you!
