Sourdough Soft Pretzels

These were sourdough soft pretzels.

They didn't look like pretzels. Before they were baked, they looked like a little more like pretzels.
Then, after baked, they looked like rolls or buns.
The taste and texture were lovely, though. Just like soft pretzels. I adopted a recipe from King Arthur Flour while I omitted brushing the mixture of malt powder and water over the pretzels before baking. Instead I dipped the pretzels in the mixture of baking soda and hot water to develop the taste, color, texture of pretzels. I think I was on the right track. My problem was how to shape them. Next time I will make pretzels in a pretzel shape.
