Glazed Lemon and Crystallized Ginger Cookies

These were glazed lemon and crystallized ginger cookies.

Spring is the time for me to make sweets with lemon. I was going to make cookies as my friend's birthday gift, so I adapted the recipe of these lemony cookies with zesty sweet ginger bits from Cook's Illustrated, and reduced a good amount of sugar as usual. It was an ice-box style cookie - roll dough into a "cylinder" shape, chill, slice, and bake. A great way to easily make many cookies at once.
I am not a fan of sugar glaze, but this was an exception. For these cookies, the soft lemony cream cheese sugar glaze was a lovely accent and made the cookies cuter. J seemed to like them very much. I hope my friend did too!
