New Year's Day Turkey

I just two days before New Year's Day when I asked J what he would like for the first day of 2022. At that time we were walking to Bettys to pick up afternoon tea sets. Clearly he had an idea - turkey! We had roast turkey breast for the latest Thanksgiving. He must have liked it very much. He immediately started checking the same local butcher with his iPhone. They couldn't deliver a bird home on the next day, which was New Year's Eve, but we could pick it up at their store. He quickly placed an order online while we were sill walking. I have never seen him so active!!

We walked to the butcher on New Year's Eve to pick up the bird. Total about an hour walk. It was a nice work out. He chose Turkey Breast with Chestnut Sausage Meat stuffing with Streaky Bacon topping this time. On the New Year's Day, I roasted the turkey and made two sides: candy yam, which I enjoyed on the Thanksgiving, and sautéed spinach according to J's request. A starter was fresh salad. I didn't make gravy sauce. We had the turkey with wholegrain mustard this time. The dinner was wonderful. A very nice choice, J! The turkey was pretty big. We repeated the same menu on Day 2. We made turkey sandwiches on Day 3. The leftover became stir-fried rice on Day 4. Our 2022 began with delicious roast turkey. Happy New Year!
