Takeaway Festive Afternoon Tea from Bettys
We had a lovely Afternoon tea at home during the holiday season as I expected. Bettys festive afternoon tea included some seasonal specials. For example, two kinds of sandwiches - Calvert Wensleydale cheese with red onion & cranberry chutney and Chicken and stuffing with lemon & sage mayonnaise were such specials. Both were new for us since they weren't in the last year's Festive Afternoon Tea. Sweet onion chutney is not usually our favorite, but this sandwich was ok. Chicken and stuffing was good but honestly I would prefer their usual Coronation chicken. The scone, Cranberry & orange scones with cranberry & Cointreau conserve and clotted cream was also new. With sugar topping, it was sweeter than their classic fruit scone and somewhat flatter in shape, which made it difficult to slice. Yet I liked the scone. Miniature cake selection included Raspberry & almond slice, Miniature mince pie, and Chocolate cube. Raspberry & almond slice was new for us and pretty good. We have had the small mince pie before and it was lovely as well. It seems that Chocolate cube is always a part of their Afternoon tea. Perhaps the incredibly rich chocolaty indulgence is everyone's favorite. The Afternoon Tea was delightful as usual. I wish to make it as our holiday tradition!
