Shiratama-Dango with Kinako
These were Shiratama-dango, or Japanese rice cake "Mochi" balls.
It was a breakfast for myself. Shiratama-dango is one of my favorite traditional Japanese sweets. I bought Japanese fine rice powder to particularly make Shiratama-dango at a Japanese grocery store in Rockville, MD so that I could make these tender yummy little Mochi balls whenever I would like. I made some plain and some with Japanese green tea (Matcha). Topping was Kinako, or roasted soy bean powder.
Yes, rice is carbo but this breakfast was oil free, egg free, daily free, refined sugar free, and vegetable-protein rich. It sounds for me reasonable. Moreover, starting a day with a favorite cheered me up very much!
