Scarpetta in NYC

We visited Sparpetta, Chef Scott Conant's Italian restaurant in NYC to try their famous freshly kitchen-made pasta!

We started with two kinds of appetizers: seared scallop and fresh yellowtail. Both were wonderful! Their bread basket was very good too. I can give a restaurant that serves great bread and desserts an extra point.
Since we came here to have pasta, we tried two kinds of pasta dishes, skipping secondi piatti.
One was Short Rib Agnolotti. The pasta part was so delicate. The filling was like smooth rich beef stew. Excellent!
The other was Cavatelli with Rabbit. This had really rich and bold flavor. We loved both pasta dishes.
Our dessert was spiced ricotta cheese cake. With dried figs, caramelized almond, light whipped cream, it would be a perfect holiday dessert. I would love to recreate my version.
And Mignardies! I always enjoy the ending of the dinner with these cute confectionary. They were lovely too.

Besides all of the impressive dishes, the service was very quick without making us feel in a rush. There were several staff talking care of our table in turn. Our main servant didn't make any friendly conversations but he was professionally attentive. No problem.

I can recommend this place to someone who would like pasta with advice that although yelp says attire "dressy," you don't have to dress-up. Maybe J was the only gentleman who wore both tie and jacket.
