Classic Green Bean Casserole with Summer Green Beans

This was classic green bean casserole with summer green beans.

We bought a pack of fresh summer green beans at a local farm stand that has been our favorite vegetable/fruit supplier this summer. The beans looked very fresh! They became J's favorite green bean casserole. The dish is usually served as a side, but this time we upgraded the casserole to a main dish of our dinner. I followed a recipe from Cook's Illustrated, halving the volume and reducing some butter. The toppings were golden and crispy. Yum!
The creamy sauce was lovely smooth.
The beans were not too crunchy or too tender.
J said this could be the best green bean casserole I ever made! The recipe was basically the same as usual. Perhaps it was the power of the fresh green beans?
