Matriciani with Seafood

Although I needed just a dozen of mussels for paella that I was going to make the next day, the minimum volume of mussels available was a big bag that contained around 50-60 mussels. We still wanted paella, so we bought a bag of mussels. We won't use all for paella. What should we do the majority of mussels? The answer was this dinner. It was our regular clam pasta with the plenty of mussels and pan-seared scallops that J originally wanted to add in paella.
Actually the mussels were so many. I couldn't place all on two of our pasta bowls. J neatly arranged some in the pasta bowls and some in a different bowl. The dinner became a big mussel feast!
For pasta, we tried our new pasta - Matriciani that was one of many gifts that Santa J gave me this Christmas. Matriciani is long rod, folded its length, in so-called "open tube" shape. We haven't had the type of pasta before. The pasta was springy and chewy, very fun to bite. With the new pasta and extra mussel, the dinner was full of surprise and deliciousness.
