My first Western Sandwich

This was my first Western sandwich!

We just enjoyed J's western sandwich day before. When we talked about breakfast this day, there was still some homemade sourdough pumpernickel loaf left, and J said, how about western sandwich again? I said sure. He meant I was the one who was going to make the sandwiches. Me?! I thought western sandwich was always made by J in this house, but I like challenging. It was fun to create a hole in the middle of the bread. J gave me a tip how to make both side of the bread buttery crispy. I had no idea that J went through such a complicated process each time in the last. Like any other egg dishes, cooking eggs ideally is tricky. In this case, my goal was cooked white and soft runny yolk. The result was overcooked yolk. Well, there was a tiny bit of slightly soft part, but not runny enough that the circle toast could do its job - soak runny yolk up on the plate. It was my first time, and I will try to do better next time. Or, I will simply give J back to the title of western sandwich maker.
