Savory Pies from Woods Pies Ltd.

It was fortunate to find a great pie shop on the outskirts of the downtown Harrogate. I happened to know a furniture store in the area, so we took a walk to north on King's Road. Although the furniture store didn't have anything we were interested in, we found Woods Pies Ltd. in the neighborhood. We stepped in the pie shop. The inside was very simple and straightforward - just a large showcase that displayed several kinds of pies and a man who sold the pies. While we were in the shop, a few customers, who seemed to be regulars, came, got some pies and left. We bought a pork pie, chicken & mushroom, and a beef pasty.
I reheated them in the oven and cut each in half to share. Wow, they were very tasty! Each filling was flavorful and the crust was light and savory. They weren't greasy at all. Although the pork pie was packed with pork block as it was supposed to be, which was too much meaty for me, I could tell it tasted better than one from Kendall's in Pateley Bridge. When we would like savory pies, Woods Pies will be our first choice as of now.
In the area on King's Road, not only the pie shop but also a church with apple trees, a lovely little grocery store, a serious fishmonger, and a couple of cafes lined side by side.
We also found a huge community garden near the area where people rent a lot to enjoy gardening.
It was a very nice walk and a lot of great discoveries!
