Yorkshire Coast - Robin Hood's Bay 3
While we were talking about how the lunch was wonderful, we climbed more steps to the top and walked on a path along the shore to reach the tip of the cliff on the south side of the bay.
Well, we tried. The cliff was too far. We turned back at a certain point, just enjoying the magnificent views from the path.
Then, we went back to the beach. The tide was ebbing in the afternoon. We explored on the exposed rocky shore and tons of seaweeds. It was kinda surreal.
A tea time sounded lovely after extensive walking. We popped in a tea room in the village. We shared a nice pot of tea, of course, Yorkshire Tea and a slice of cake.
There were multiple options for cake. I managed to narrow down to two - Victoria Sandwich and Walnut and Coffee Cake. I knew J was waiting for my decision. Think, think, think... Victoria Sandwich!
This version of Victoria Sandwich had raspberry jam, instead of strawberry and butter cream not only between cake layers but also on the top. It was actually pretty good. A elder couple next to us were enjoying cream tea (scones with jam and clotted cream and tea). I admire British tea culture.
