Carriages in Knaresborough

Knaresborough is a neighbor town of Harrogate. After a quick shopping near the town, we had a nice walk around the downtown and a nice lunch at Carriages. The restaurant had a lovely back garden. It was a hot (but not too hot like in DC) sunny summer day in the middle of August. We decided to get a table in the garden instead of the dark, beer-smell indoor.
We both had a two-course lunch. My first dish was kofta with mint dressing. It was pretty good and a generous portion as an appetizer. J had duck liver pate, I think.
Our mutual second dish was rich, meaty, creamy tagliatelle with dried tomatoes.
Interestingly the restaurant was located on the tunnel of the rail line. We could look down the train station from the garden.
By the way, Knaresborough's downtown is pretty small but the spectacular views of beautiful stone bridge over River Nedd from the castle ruins on the cliff was definitely worth visiting.
Actually there was another great spot to look at the bridge. St. John the Baptist Church, which was located very close to Carriages, had a community house. We happened to drop by there after an interesting visit of the inside of the church that seemed to have a long history since the 12th century.
By following a nice church lady's recommendation, we admired the view of the opposite side of the bridge from the deck of the community house.
