Japanese-style Grilled Salmon and more

Our friends Mr.&Mrs T generously invited us for luncheon again! Look at these beautiful Japanese dishes. The menu was:

Grilled salmon - the secret of its complex mellow flavor was marinating salmon fillets in rice malt, which made the salmon so tasty and special!

Thinly sliced pork and vegetable miso soup, Tonjiru - a traditional Japanese miso soup variation, a perfect marriage of flavorful pork and hearty vegetable in miso soup. It was a sweet nostalgic taste for me.

Savory egg custard with shrimp, Chawanmushi - steamed egg custard mixed with Japanese soup stock Dashi created silky smooth texture. The toppings - shrimp, mushroom, fish cake chikuwa, green peas - were artistically arranged.

Steamed rice with Japanese sweet potato Satumaimo - Japanese sweet potato was lovely sweet!! It couldn't be replaced with yam.

Squid and cucumber salad - this tangy vinegar-dressed salad, Sunomono was refreshing and stimulated the appetite.

Sauteed & simmered root vegetable Kinpira - sweet soy sauce flavored lotus roots and carrots was a neat relish with great texture, play a role of Hashiyasume, that is "chopstick rest" between other dishes.

Each dish was absolutely delicious, presenting a great balance of tastes and flavors. We were lucky guests to be there! Thank you so much, Mr.&Mrs T for the wonderful lunch and your hospitality!!!
