These were fresh pasta from Cucina Al Volo at Union Market.
They had more variety of fresh pasta than
last time and provided a special offer: if you buy one pasta and one sauce, you get extra pasta. So, we bought two different pasta and two jars of eggplant tomato sauce; we were able to add two extra different pasta for free. What a great deal! On Day 1, we cooked simple Tagliatelle and eggplant tomato sauce.
I thought one jar would be enough to dress the whole pasta. I was wrong. After tossing cooked pasta with sauce from a jar, all sauce was absorbed by the pasta and disappeared. I rushed to reheat more sauce from another jar. With using two jars up, the pasta looked better.
I liked the sauce very much. It has a lovely deep flavor and a lot of chunks of meaty eggplant. The pasta was pretty good as well. It was a great start for a series of our fresh pasta dinner! Squid ink pasta will be the next.
